FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1 – What is a traditional conveyor?

A traditional conveyor is a continuous closed-circuit handling installation used to transport loads or materials on the ground. It is also called a treadmill or belt conveyor. When a conveyor carries out transport /handling in the air, it is then referred to as an overhead conveyor.

2 – What is an overhead conveyor?

An overhead conveyor is an overhead installation that allows the transport of more or less heavy loads. The purpose of these facilities is to free up floor space to occupy a generally untapped volume of your building. In addition, it will optimize your logistics and improve your productivity.

3 – What is an accumulation conveyor?

An accumulation conveyor is a load transport system that guarantees the constant supply of products from one machine or the maintenance of the supply of another during a shutdown.

It may also allow:

  • Storage in different areas by reference classification.
  • Managing buffer stocks
  • Merging Lines

This type of conveyor is quite present in the industrial laundry and surface treatment sector, but can adapt to any other activity.

4 – What is a step-by-step conveyor?

A step-by-step conveyor is a transport system that progresses on demand or according to a defined time.

This type of process allows product progress at equal distance, preventing production operators from moving. The transported parts come directly to your employees.

5 – What is a monorail conveyor?

An OCA monorail conveyor is a conveyor consisting of a single rail profile in a closed circuit allowing the transport of light loads.

6 – What is a “power & free” dual-rail conveyor?

A “power & free” twin-rail conveyor is a conveyor consisting of a rail allowing the transport of heavier loads of 1 to 9000 kg depending on the range of the conveyor.

This aerial handling system offers the possibility of creating accumulation, switching, buffer and storage zones.

The system may include a ferry, an elevator, or a rotation zone.

7 – How much does an overhead conveyor system cost?

An overhead conveyor can have different options: a lift station, a stacker/unstacker, an automatic loader/unloader, ferry, elevator/elevator…

8 – What types of products can be conveyed?

All products can be conveyed. After studying needs and demand, our teams adapt the handling process to the product to be transported by integrating hooks, swings, etc.

9 – What is the point of having a lift station integrated into my conveyor?

The integration of a lift station makes it possible to lift a very heavy load effortlessly (up to 9 tons). The operator then works at an ergonomic height, limiting the generation of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

10 – What is the point of having a loading and unloading system on my conveyor system?

This system manages the stocks of bins and boxes, which are unloaded and/or loaded in an automated manner with a twofold objective: to facilitate the work of your operators by improving your productivity.

11 – What is the point of having a fire door integrated into my installation?

Our OCA conveyor has a patented energy-free system that protects you in the event of a fire.

During a fire, the fire door closes. At the same time, our system automatically cuts the conveyor rope thanks to an innovative process. The fire zone is therefore completely isolated, limiting the spread of fire in your other production areas.

In addition, this system that protects you is accepted by insurance companies.

12 – What is a ferry?

A ferry is an aerial handling system that allows the transfer of loads from one area to another. This type of conveyor can be applied to all types of industries.
